HTML Vs. Flash – In Pixton Format

So here’s an interesting thought… could you create Pixton in HTML5? Could you make as good of a webcomic as RobotBeach in Pixton? Hmm.

The tool does not dictate the quality of the output.

Re. creating Pixton in HTML5… I’d certainly like to see someone try, although it’d be like trying to build a house out of furniture.

Just as talented comic artists make their craft look “easy”, I can attest to the quadrillion lines of code that you couldn’t possibly imagine behind Pixton!

Re. making a comic as good as RobotBeach in Pixton… Pixton is a tool for making a new KIND of comic. As you say, “the tool does not dictate the quality of the output”. The author does, and in this case both you and RobotBeach have decided to make a kinda crappy-looking Pixton comic. Spend more time with the tool to answer your question.

    Clive, thanks for visiting.

“kinda crappy-looking Pixton comic” – I’d say this one looks kinda good compared to a lot of em I’ve seen.

I do firmly believe that the tool does not dictate the quality… I’m sure that high quality comics are capable of being produced by Pixton.

Sorry Chad, I took your words too personally and shouldn’t have called your effort crappy. I made a bit of a mullet comment.

No harm, no foul. Your site is fun. It looks like you have put a lot of work into it, and it shows.

Obviously Robot Beach is that rare combination of solid writing and quality art style that results in the viewer coming back again and again, and I suppose I should mention that quantity is also a factor in a good comic as you want to grow with the characters. Pixon is neato and allows people who are ‘art shy’ to create something they can share so it is a good thing but who wants to look at the same strip more than once for the most part? I can look at the same Calvin and Hobbes strip over and over but even the ones ranked at the top of the heap are one shots for me.

I see you more as an abstract (Flash etc) artist than as a Pixon guy Chad, I think you can use your genius and artistic sense to say a lot more without words and ‘realism’…
