A few weeks ago I discovered your blog and have been following along quietly. I felt I should give my opening comment. I dont know exactly what to write except that Ive really loved perusing. Interesting blog. I intend to keep coming back to this site now and again. I have also taken your RSS feed to get any updates.

It seems like the great Flash vs. SEO debate will rage onwards forever. Flash looks great - no doubt - but you really have to evaluate the practical value between visual appeal and link-worthy content. We try to explain to clients, as simply as possible, that share-worthy content is far more important than a "killer" flash design. We try to house the discussion in the context of "Is it better to rely on a superfly flash animation to get links...or a well constructed, informative, share-worthy article?"

Oh how I hate Flash sites regardless of the SEO implications.

They sure do look great and I love them for that but the owners of these sites are never happy when the SEO Consultant comes along and says hmm well I hate to tell you this but your web site is the main reason your not getting traffic.

I agree don't hold your breath on Flash but Video is creeping into tops spots lately I have to wonder about the technology behind that or is it just spamming keywords in video descriptions

Definitely a good point on the RIA indexing...no need to index all screens of such an app.

There are plenty of media heavy, full Flash sites (I suppose the next question is should there be all these crazy sites) for movies, CDs, etc. that deserve to be indexed.

Agreed on the future of rich media indexing...it seems there is/will be one, just to what extent.

I like being able to search within swf files. In Google, you can append "filetype:swf" to any search query, and you'll see only Flash sites. It's like searching only Web 2.0 pages that way.

Check out this one for example: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cool+factor+filetype%3Aswf&btnG=Search

Click on a few of the first results. Have you ever seen such a COOL set of results in a Google search?
