Thank You Tdude for the tip from the Feb20 post on crashing when publishing. I was having the same issue when trying to publish my movie – crashed about a million times. After copying the .fla file to another directory and changing the directory to save the .swf to [under Publish Settings – Formats – click the file icon next to .swf and change the directoy it is saved to)…miraculously it saved! NO idea why it kept crashing before, but very relieved it finally published and I can finish my project!!!

I am constantly having flash crashing while creating a shape tween inside a movieclip. Happens everytime I enable the shape tween. Flash freezes. It��s a simple tween, too.

I’ve the same problem here and now.. i was working on my flash game with pre-rendered 3D graphics style and it almost finish when suddenly on my office i’ve tried to export the movie and this f**k thing said ‘Error creating Flash Movie. there was not enough memory available’. Until i read a suggestion to change publish destination, and i did it once! guess what ? it’s work! but it only works once and only! after i’m back working on my project and try to export it again this damn thing said a same thing, ‘Error creating flash movie. bla bla bla..’ it’s really frustating for me because i have a deadline in 2 weeks from now.. can anybody here help me please..

Just followed a suggestion here that worked!!! Thanks Tdude.
I was crashing when trying to publish. Copied things to a new folder & things worked fine.

XP SP3 And just finding that when working for a prolonged ammount of time and previewing files that I am working on such as flash templates adding touches to them etc. It crashes while trying to preview wether i do it in a browser or as a flash file doesn’t matter just doesn’t like you coding drawing or so much as importing a picture and then trying to preview too many times say an hour or it will crash so I have to friggin save every time I blink so that it wont crash when i try to preview it because it may look great but since it crashes you lose it anyway. Grr I hate this new flash I hate it all to hell and its so expensive its retarded.

I don’t even have to move the graphic in question. It only needs to be -present- when I’m moving something else, or shifting to another keyframe.

1. “Constrain” feature for scaling often doesn’t work at all, or totally DISTORTS the proportions instead of keeping them constant.

2. When moving the timeline slider or doing any other click-and-drag function, the modules all disappear and it stops showing you what you’re doing. You’re flying blind until you release the mouse button and see if you guessed correctly.

3. Shape tweens occasionally crash Flash, but I’ve also had this happen to me fairly often when using Sothink SWF Quicker. Shape tweens seem to just be inherently confusing.

4. Once had a problem with my buttons disappearing on preview/export. Trace statements said that such-and-such button was visible, but it wasn’t. I can’t count how many times Actionscript -says- it’s doing something when it obviously is -not-.

5. Current problem: God forbid that I ever try MOVING A GRAPHIC AROUND ON THE STAGE. Yeah, that’s what got me running “flash crashes” on Google, finding this site and writing this post. Because I’ve crashed four times in a half hour, all because I want to put a graphic somewhere else on the stage. Only thing that makes the graphic special is that it has three bitmap fills. Apparently that’s enough to make Flash choke on it.

Then, of course, there are the totally random crashes.

I was working on CS3 for the longest time!
I’m working on a multimedia project for high school that is due in two days.
So, i’ve been making sure that everything gets saved but right as I’m putting the little end details (changing colors and aligning) I try to go back to the menu and a message says “CS3 has stopped working” and it closes me out.
And after that, when I even get close to my menu it closes down, and now it won’t let me publish the rest.
Do I have to start over?
I’m scared, because if I try using the program at school, they have the 7th version and CS3 files won’t work on it.
